17 iPhone 7 Tips and Tricks You Should Know
1. Add a Password with Letters and Numbers
A password that features both letters and numbers is a lot safer than a password that only has letters or figures.
If that the kind of password you want to add to your iPhone, all you have to do is go to Settings > Touch ID and Passcode > Change Passcode > Passcode Options.
2. Unlock iPhone 7 By Resting Your Finger on the Display
If you want to impress your friends who opted for not getting an iPhone 7, you can do that by showing them how your iPhone opens by simply resting your finger on it. You can set this up by going to Settings > General > Home Button > Toggle on Rest Finger to Open.
3. Create a Custom Message for When You Can’t Answer Calls
I think it’s something that has happened to all of us; you get a call at the worst possible moment. You don’t want just to deny the call since you think that other person might get mad thinking you didn’t want to talk to them. In that case, why not create a message to respond with.
Your iPhone already comes equipped with three options:
- Sorry I can’t talk right now
- I’m on my way
- Can I call you later?
If you want to add a message of your own you can go to Settings > Phone > Respond with Text. Don’t forget that if you add a custom message, the previously mentioned messages will disappear.
4. Force a Restart Your iPhone 7
The iPhone 7 didn’t come with a home button but thank goodness you don’t need one to force a restart on your phone. Just press the power button (that’s on the right side) and then the volume down button (on the left side), keep pressing them until your phone restarts.

In the Message windows you want, tap on the i icon that is on the upper right-hand corner and then select Send Read Receipts and turn it off. No more hearing your friend complain and complain!
6. Turn on Your iPhone 7 by Simply Lifting It
Just the thought of having to press a button to activate your iPhone 7 can be exhausting for some. If this is your case, why not set up the raise to wake feature, so your phone turns on when you lift it. You can activate this useful feature by going to Settings > Display & Brightness > Raise to Wake.
7. How to Have Your iPhone 7 Record in 4K
You just got your iPhone 7 and can’t wait to start enjoying that 4K video. Before you get started, you might want to turn that 4K jewel on. That’s right when you first take your iPhone 7 out of the box; it’s only going to record in Full HD and not in 4K. To change that setting go to Settings > Photos & Camera.
8. Add A Custom Vibration Pattern to a Particular Contact
Adding a specific ringtone to a contact is nothing new, but how about adding a personalized vibration pattern? That got your attention, didn’t it? By adding a vibration pattern to a contact, you know who’s calling you without having to take your phone out of your pocket.
To add this vibration pattern go to your Contacts list and choose a contact. Tap on the Edit button on the upper right-hand corner, scroll down until you see the vibration field. When you tap on it, you will see the vibration patterns you can add to that contact, but you can also add a custom pattern. You’ll now have to tap on the screen to create the custom pattern you want to add.
9. How to Take Pictures While You’re Recording a Video
You’re at the Zoo with your kids, and you’re recording the elephants, but you would love to take some stills as well. Whatever you do, don’t stop recording since the only thing you have to do is tap on the camera button that also appears on the screen. The picture won’t be as great since you’re not going to use your iPhone’s actual photo sensor, but you should still get some great pictures.

To set up the timer go to the clock app and select Timer that should be in the lower right-hand corner of the display. Another way you can gain access is by swiping up from the bottom of your home screen and choose the clock face on the bottom row.
Now you just need to decide how long you want the timer to last and tap When Timer Ends. Now, scroll all the way to the bottom and tap on Stop playing. Turn the timer on and then begin listening to your music from the music app. Once the time is up, the music is going to fade until it stops.
